A MOCKING BIRD SONG

When mocking birds refuse
To sing
And fireflies no longer glow
Butterflies fail to flutter
And the tides cease to flow
When bees stop buzzing
Because flowers no longer bloom
A small piece of earth
Disappears in the gloom
When fish no longer
Swim the seas
And the forests are laid bare
When the skies do not
Spill rain
And our fields become seared
A large piece of earth
Disappears forever
When lions cease to roar
Their mighty wilderness call
And snakes no longer hiss
When mankind does not
Respond to kindness
And vicious wars rage
We lose our faith
Page by page
When children no longer
Skip a rope and play their
Youthful games
And man and nature
Can no longer Coexist
All the world will
Disappear
We will no longer exist
