 Minco History Books

The Historical Society has one Minco history book for sale, and a second book is under developement.

(1).  The first book is a reprint of "Minco, Oklahoma, 1890-1990, The First 100 years", compiled by the Minco Senior Citizens in about 1992. The project was chaired by Dixie Gilbert.   The book was sold out, and many requested copies from the museum and local businesses.  In response to the requests, the society reordered 200 copies.  Copies are available at $50 each at the museum during regular hours (Thurs and Fri, 10am to 3pm).  Copies may be mailed to out-of-town purchasers for $50 plus $10 shipping and handling. (
Address:  Minco Historical Society, P.O. Box 72, Minco, OK 73059) Copies will be available also at the Minco Honey Fest in December and at the alumni reunions in May of odd years.

(2)  The second book is the "Minco, Oklahoma Quasquicentennial, 1890-2015, The First 125 years".   We found that many former, and even present residents, were not informed about the first book's preparation and inadvertently were not included, although there was an effort to include all possible.  Since then, more of Minco's history has been discovered.  For example, John M. Ellis, "the man who built Minco's downtown and churches", and his family was not included.  Children of 25 years ago are now grown with their own families and wanted to be included in the second book.   With the internet, improved methods of contact, and intense coverage, we provided in-towners and out-of-towners -- everyone associated with Minco, past and present, town and rural area, the opportunity to be included in this second book.  The new book has been completed and published, and is now available.   Copies of the second book are available at $50 each at the museum during regular hours (Thurs and Fri, 10am to 3pm).  Copies may be mailed to out-of-town purchasers for $50 plus $10 shipping and handling. (Address:  Minco Historical Society, P.O. Box 72, Minco, OK 73059) Copies will be available also at the Minco Honey Fest in December and at the alumni reunions in May of odd years.

Both books will become more valuable over time to their owners and to their future generations.
