Someone pointed out the mountain goat on the side of this cliff.  (Center)

Sounded like distant thunder.

Beautiful view from back of the boat.

The boat captain pointed to some type of birds all over this cliff.

Local weather had been cold and cloudy before we arrived in Seward, and the captain kept saying "It's a BEAUTIFUL day!!!"

More birds.  The captain kept identifying many different types of birds by name, but they all looked like white birds to me.

Close up of ....white birds.

This white bird is perched by a "bird cam" that transmits live pictures of surrounding activity back to a research facility.

Fishing fleet going home.

Close up of hump back.

The boat is much like the one we're on.

Note the different colors of water.  That is due to the river at the mouth of Resurrection Bay.

A cruise ship docked while we were out.

Next morning from our room.  Overcast with low clouds

Breakfast before departing for Talkeetna. There was a pastry and coffee shop just below our room.

The Exit Glacier Visitor Center near Seward was still closed for winter, but one could still hobble up to the edge of Exit Glacier if one was up to it.  I wasn't.

The trail to Exit Glacier.

The Alaskan Railroad often ran next to the highway.  Nice to ride if one doesn't mind the inconvenience of lines and lack of mobility.

Heading north out of Anchorage.  Anchorage is just like any town of similar size in Oregon and Washington.

Near downtown Talkeetna.

Driving around Talkeetna, I came across this airplane on 3rd Street.

Talkeetna has two airports:  The "main" one and this mid-town, back door, neighborhood airstrip.  There are planes among the trees all up and down this runway, usually behind homes.

We scheduled at the "main" airport to take a flight over Denali Park and land on a glacier, but the weather turned bad and they canceled the flight.

They have performances by local artists in this park in summer.

More of Talkeetna's downtown park.

We stayed in the Talkeetna Lodge two nights, based on its unobstructed view of Mt. McKinley (when it's not socked in).
