On our way to a reunion in Stockton, CA, we stopped by Lake Havasu to
see London Bridge. In the 40s and 50s, one heard the song "London
Bridge is falling down", and we wanted to see the London Bridge that had
been shipped to Lake Havasu. |

It was 110 degrees F. when we were there in the cool of the evening.

Betty found some shade.

Lots of businesses around the bridge. I don't know why. It's
too hot! |

Betty. By the way, there was a lot of volcanic rock between I-40
and Lake Havasu. |

This monument is for the Tahachapi railroad loop below. |
 |
The "Tehachapi Loop" is famous among
railroad buffs. The loop was created to gain train
altitude at less steep grade on the mountain pass west of Barstow, CA.
On the left is an arial view, and on the right one can see much of the
curves that form the loop. |

Mt. Shasta, from an Interstate 5 rest stop. |

We stopped in Bandon, OR, for two days at our favorite lodging.
This is the view from our room. |

Just a few feet from our door is a sitting platform for viewing and a
stairway to the beach. |

It was cold, and so we spent some time sitting in our room just viewing. |

And the weather got worse. |

But the fog added interest. |
 |
 |

View back toward our room at the top of the stairs. |

Betty. Our room is #235. |

Zoomed in shot of activity on the beach. |

This is the life. |
